SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2024 - 6 Hours

7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. - ARRIVALS, REGISTRATION & FULL BREAKFAST

8:00 a.m. - CE PROGRAM BEGINS

Conversations in Glaucoma - This course will use a case-based format to examine several clinical scenarios as a framework for discussion of glaucoma diagnosis and management. Attendees will learn how to interpret the results of imaging technology to diagnose glaucoma at an early stage. Emphasis will be on making appropriate decisions about when to use laser and micro-invasive procedures as a primary treatment for glaucoma versus more traditional glaucoma therapies. (93948-GL, Drs. Morning Break

True Emergencies of the Posterior Pole - The goal of this course is to present the true ocular emergencies that present in the posterior pole. It will review clinical findings, appropriate systemic testing, as well as treatment and management of each emergency. New treatment options and specific testing will be discussed. This course will be presented in a grand rounds fashion. (93950-SD, Drs. Pizzimenti & Pelino,  2 hours)

EXTENDED LUNCH & NHOA BUSINESS MEETING

Diagnosing, Managing, and Treating Secondary Open Angle Glaucomas - This course will review the secondary open angle glaucoma categories. It will review traumatic, pseudoexfoliative, neovascular and pigmentary glaucoma along with proper treatment, testing and management. (93467-GL, Dr. Pelino, 1 hour)

Wellness, Nutrition & Disease Prevention the Mediterranean Way - Various aspects of a Mediterranean diet and lifestyle have been shown to correlate with healthy aging. Several ocular benefits have been associated with this lifestyle pattern, owing to a reduction in oxidative stress and inflammation. This course reviews the latest research in this area. 5:00 p.m.  start - Private Cocktail Class - sponsored by the Young Optometrists of New Hampshire

Whether you are a cocktail connoisseur, a budding home bartender, or “just an OD” looking for a Saturday evening filled with laughter and libations, this event developed with the “Young” and the “Young-at-Heart” Optometrists within our ranks. 

Designed with fun and camaraderie in mind, attendees will find the 90-minute event full of engaging and enlightening discussions on the creative origins of each cocktail we will make. 

The free event, located on the grounds of the No. Conway Grand Hotel, will teach you comprehensive mixology techniques and includes a fun, hands-on workshop; You’ll even be able to enjoy and/or take home what you’ve learned!

All attendees of the Autumn ’24 CE and Business Meetings are welcome to participate! There is no cost to sign up for this fun educational event!

After a full day of CE and Association business, we invite you to SEA DOG Brewing Company's North Conway location (minutes from the hotel) for a fun night out with colleagues and new friends.

Interprofessional Care of Retina Patients Using Multimodal Imaging - Using a case-based format, two optometrists and a retina specialist provide clinically relevant information about the various methods of posterior segment imaging and other diagnostic testing. COFFEE REFRESH - MORNING BREAK

Emerging Trends in Age-related Macular Degeneration - Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) imposes an enormous burden on optometrists and ophthalmologists, office staff, caregivers, and above all, patients and their loved ones. This course presents new clinical insights and in an effort to ease this burden, making the case for an emerging systemic approach to AMD that is similar to how we view diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular occlusion. Normal Tension Glaucoma Thoughts, Time, Testing and Treatment - This course will describe the possible etiologies of normal tension glaucoma. It will review all treatment options and analyze the systemic testing that is needed to rule out other diagnoses. This course will also emphasize clinical points through cased based learning.
