AP Understanding Implicit Bias in Health Care: How Optometrists Can Improve Patient Interactions - Implicit bias is a term used to describe our unconscious attitudes, judgements, and prejudices about people or groups. This course will discuss how implicit bias forms, its impact on healthcare outcomes, and how we can improve patient interactions through our understanding of implicit bias. Real world and personal examples of our own implicit biases will be explored. In addition we will discuss strategies for mitigating the impact of implicit on patient care. (93485-PB, 1 hour)
